Founder's Story

Meet Yvonne Porter

From Curveball to Crown

New Hattitude on Cancer, Inc. was born from a personal experience with cancer — the kind of experience that changes you forever and calls you to action. Founder Yvonne Porter witnessed firsthand how cancer strips away not just health, but dignity and confidence.

She saw women going through treatment who had lost their hair, their sense of style, and sometimes their will to fight. Yvonne believed that with the right support, every woman could reclaim her beauty, her strength, and her crown.

So she founded New Hattitude on Cancer, Inc. — a Maryland-based nonprofit built on four pillars: health, beautification, spirituality, and community. The "Hattitude" concept was simple but powerful: a hat is not just a covering — it's a statement that you are still here, still standing, and still beautiful.

More Than a Hat —
It's a Mindset

"Hattitude" is the attitude you wear when life deals you a curveball. It's the decision to show up — not just survive, but thrive. It's the courage to put on a beautiful hat, hold your head high, and declare that cancer does not define you.

When a warrior receives a New Hattitude hat, they receive much more than fabric and style. They receive a tangible reminder that someone sees them, loves them, and believes in their strength. That the community stands with them. That God has not forgotten them.

Every hat we give is paired with prayer, encouragement, and a full support system that walks alongside each warrior from diagnosis through survivorship.

Andre Brown

Board of Advisors

Andre Brown is an educator and coach with a Bachelor of Education and a Master’s in Educational Leadership, recognized for his commitment to discipline, teamwork, and resilience. He became a member of New Hattitude on Cancer Inc because he has witnessed the impact cancer has on individuals and communities, and he fully supports the organization’s vision and mission to provide hope, resources, and advocacy. Andre channels his leadership experience into raising awareness, supporting those affected, and helping ensure no one faces cancer alone.

Audrey Richardson

Board of Advisors

Audrey Richardson is an experienced and dedicated educator with over 25 years of teaching experience. She holds a Master of Arts degree and has devoted her life to inspiring students and supporting academic excellence. Known for her compassion, leadership, and commitment to lifelong learning, she has a genuine love for people that extends beyond the classroom. Audrey’s passion for serving others has led her to actively support New Hattitude on Cancer Inc. initiatives focused on cancer awareness, advocacy, and community outreach — a mission that deeply resonates with her drive to uplift, encourage, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Yasmine Miller

Board of Advisors

Yasmine Miller brings precision, focus, and a strong sense of purpose to every project she supports. With a degree in Accounting, she understands the value of stewardship and transparency, and she applies those principles to her work with New Hattitude on Cancer Inc. Yasmine joined the organization because she believes in its vision and mission, and she’s committed to helping ensure resources reach the people who need them most. She stands with those impacted by cancer, offering her skills and support to advance hope, awareness, and real help for the community.
